The Importance of Sponsorship For Your Local Rugby Club

The provision of a Rugby playing facility in a town such as Newport does not come cheap; neither does the challenge of playing in the Midlands premier league. Linked to the costs of ensuring that the fabrication of the club house is suitably maintained and the standard of the playing areas is sustained, one quickly realises that Rugby Football Union, in Newport Shropshire, is big business.

The fact that our 1st Team squad is packed with players who started their careers, a number of years ago, turning up on a Sunday morning for Mini Rugby proves the value of investments made in the club. A Large amount of this investment is in the form of time given up by individuals; the other element is the funding that we receive from such a variety of businesses both locally and nationally. Newport (S) RUFC could
simply not survive without Sponsorship funding. It is a hard fact of life that we will have to continue to rely upon generous benefactors in order to continue to play Rugby Football in Newport.

Plans to extend the Club House which will provide long term benefit for the playing and social side of the enterprise are now being discussed. This will not be a cheap project it is essential that we demonstrate real improvement; the old adage springs to mind, if things are going well off the park then they also go well on the park. We are extremely grateful to our sponsors and we will endeavour to give them value for money. We are now on the Midlands stage so any advertising is seen by a much wider audience; this is attracting businesses, not necessarily associated with Newport, to become sponsors.
